If you think that you will die and that is the end of it then wait till you read this. You will be surprised to learn that the religious contention that man will rise from the grave is not just a myth or wishful thinking but is based on real scientific principles. Rising up from the grave and coming back alive can happen simply with the reversal of time. The world (but not the universe) can end because of earthquake, tsunami, meteor strike, nuclear war, supernova, and some other natural or man made disaster. These are however just local ends that have nothing to do with The Day of Judgment. End will also not happen on any arbitrary date like December 2012. The end of the universe is an entirely different phenomenon that is built into the laws of the universe by the creator. The contraction of the universe with reversal of time and gravity will commence the beginning of the end which will last for thousands and possibly millions of years. We will be removed from the regressing effects of reversed time as we come back alive in our own time. We will the be taken across many dimensions to beyond this universe. A beautiful natural mechanism that is based on the laws of physics will cause all that to happen. This real end has nothing to do with wishful thinking and predictions of priests or shamans.

On one hand, you complain “why did he [God] only appear at that fixed geographic location”. On the other hand, you condem Christianity because “was incapable of coexisting with other religions, it soon wiped out all others”. Christianity itself did not wipe out other religions. A religion is per definitionem incapable of wiping out other religions. What you mean is that people were converted into Christians by other people preaching the Gospel. But of course, this has not the negative connotation which you’d like to tag Christianity with.

So, what do you want? You want God to be everywhere (according to you, it is not right that God only appears at fixed geographic locations), or you want people to bring God around the world (which is bad as well according to you because it would “wipe out other religions)?

You are about as far off the truth as anyone can get. First you logic is faulty and is only another form of Fatalism. Second, you think that you are a believer, but you neither know Jesus as you Savior, and you yourself are a deceiver, and are leading people away from the only person, Jesus, who can guarantee them a home in heaven..Even if Obama was the antichrist, and I don’t think that you are even qualified to make that call, If he just happened to be the Anti-christ then you would be a perfect fit for his false prophet. I don’t think that you really realize the fire that you are playing with.

Thanks for your comment! You cite the bible’s claim against the prophets of Baal – but killing and eating innocent babies was an extremely common criticism against every alternative spiritual practice – both Jews and Christians were routinely charged with the exact same offense. And the pagan practice of “passing infants through fire” was most likely not sacrifice, as is believed today, but a ritual of strengthening them, common to pagan belief. Yes, maybe they did cut themselves – bleeding or suffering for God is a common practice of world religions – it continues today in MANY forms of contemporary Christianity, such as the Easter celebrations of the Philippines, and was a common practice of Catholicism (Self-flagellation) for around 1000 years.

And, I don’t give a shit about what alternative religions practice; it shouldn’t give me the excuse to go and kill them all. The action was “Justified”? Didn’t Jesus come to abolish “eye for eye” justice in favor of “turn the other cheek” (forgive your trespassers, etc.)?

Moses sent the Levites to slaughter around 3000 Israelites that got scared in the desert (after following Moses around in the desert for 40 years without being able to find Israel, I think I’d probably call it quits as well). Where is their justice?

Do any of you know the background to this story at all? The prophets of Baal worshiped a God very similar to that of the Carthaginians. THEY SACRIFICED INNOCENT LITTLE BABIES. They even cut themselves according to their custom I Kings 18:28 And they cried aloud, and cut themselves after their custom
with swords and lances, until the blood gushed out upon them.” Yes, these prophets were not peace loving people who were confused; they killed little children and believed in their God so much that they wounded themselves. Besides the action was justified by the fact that Jezebel had earlier killed the prophets of the Lord, “…when
Jez’ebel killed the prophets of the LORD” I Kings 18:13. Since their was a the killing to avenge, (God had given the leaders of Israel right to do such things, Exodus 22:20 “Whoever sacrifices to any god other than the LORD
must be destroyed.”) who was better to pay the debt than Jezebel and her evil priests?
